Dragiša Kašiković was born on August 9th 1932 in Hadžići, a town near Sarajevo, to father Branko and mother Nevenka, nee Rakić. The Kašiković family originally hail from Trebinje, in Herzegovina. Dragiša’s grandfather, Nikola Kašiković, was the editor-in-chief of the famous magazine, „Bosanska vila“ – some of the most eminent Serbian writers of the time, including Jovan Dučić and Jovan Skerlić, wrote for the magazine.
